How to use a נקודה
The method
Nekudah B’Tefillah helps you have כוונה during davening through one clear נקודה from Chassidus. Some cards uncover the meaning inside specific words of the siddur; others teach the inner עבודה that prepares you to daven those words.
כוונה and basic התבוננות
The frame is basic התבוננות as developed in the Chassidic sources. Begin with an ענין in אלקות that you already understand. Stay with the ענין itself—its explanation, distinctions, and details—until it stands clearly in your mind. Then do not simply move on. דעת is התקשרות: binding yourself firmly to what you understand until it becomes הרגש הענין המושג, a truth that is inwardly present and recognized as the reality you are standing in. דעת is not yet the emotion in the heart. When the ענין illuminates inwardly in the mind, it can then affect the heart.
The flow
- The נקודה — take one clear truth from Chassidus.
- Understanding — know what the idea actually means.
- התבוננות — remain with the ענין and its details rather than reducing it to a slogan.
- דעת — bind yourself to what you understand until it becomes inwardly present.
- תפלה — carry that awareness into davening and allow the heart to respond.
For a Words card: return to the נקודה when you reach those exact words.
For an Avodah card: use the card to prepare or guide the inner עבודה with which you enter and move through davening.
How to use a card
Take one card. Follow its movement from the נקודה into your actual davening—either when you reach its words or as the inner preparation with which you daven. Before or after davening, or when you want the sources, scan the QR code for the original passage, context, a fuller explanation, and related shiurim, sichos, or maamorim.
Research standards
Each published נקודה should rest on a strong authentic Chassidic source connected to the specified words or to the avodah it teaches. Original maamarim, sichos, letters, and reliable Chabad seforim are preferred.
